Nachash (Hazbin Hotel)

Nachash, also known as The True Root of All Evil is the overarching antagonist of VivziePop's Hellaverse.

He is the embodiment of Evil, Chaos and Destruction who lives for millennia alongside his light counterpart, Asherah, who is the Embodiment of Goodness, Life and Harmony. He is also responsible for Humanity’s fall for sin, as he used Lucifer's desire to bring free will to all living beings (without him knowing), by giving Eve, Adam's second wife, the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge (which is Nachash himself). After taking a bite, Nachash took control of Eve as a puppet for him to spread his malevolence throughout the Earth and the universe as a whole. God and Asherah worked together to imprison Nachash into Purgatory, but too late to stop his malevolence from spreading like a plague. He is indirectly responsible for Lucifer's fall from Heaven, as he and Lilith were unjustly punished for spreading Nachash's malevolence, which both Lucifer and Lilith didn’t know about, and he is responsible for Eve’s transformation into Roo, the Root of Evil.

Personality

As the manifestation of Evil and creator of Sin, Nachash is completely and unapologetically evil, ruthless, sadistic, and disloyal; a card-carrying monster who benefits and thrives off of the suffering of others. While people like Adam and the Vees are evil out of lust for power, vengeance, for entertainment or a tragic backstory, Nachash is out for the sake of his own personal goals on annihilating all of life as means to feed of the souls of the sinners that died from many extermination days.

Nachash is a misanthrope who genuinely despises humanity and deeply enjoys terrorizing the human race, having meddled in their lives since their creation. He is the reason why humans can die, hurt, and sin in the first place, and is very proud of the fact that he caused the downfall of humanity and they can never have Paradise because of him, wearing their misery and hardships like a badge of honor.

Aside his hatred towards all living beings, he hates both God and his twin sister Asherah, as his hatred towards both God and his sister reflects his disdain for the fundamental aspects of existence they represent—goodness, life, and order, giving a sense of Nihilism in the process.

He symbolizes pure evil, unrestrained chaos, relentless destruction, and the insidious allure of the seven deadly sins. Moreover, his nihilistic worldview adds an existential depth, fueling his malevolent desires to disrupt the very fabric of existence itself. Despite being the embodiment of evil, Nachash possesses a malevolent personality that exudes terrifying intelligence and chilling charisma. His presence commands attention, drawing others into his orbit with a hypnotic allure that is as captivating as it is unnerving. Behind his facade lies a cunning intellect, meticulously plotting and manipulating events to further his agenda of destruction and chaos.

Nachash's manipulative nature is a defining aspect of his character, allowing him to weave intricate schemes and ensnare even the most powerful beings in his web of deceit. His manipulation of Eve, tempting her into eating the forbidden fruit, showcases his ability to exploit vulnerabilities and sow discord. Similarly, his deceptive guise as a Toa, which led to a deal with Alastor, highlights his skill at exploiting others' desires and ambitions for his own gain.

Trivia

He serves as a composite character, being based on Nachash of the Judeo-Christian mythos and the Tree of Knowledge between Good and Evil.
Between Nachash and God, he is shown to be equally powerful as God and Asherah, being old as time itself.
